Performances began in March 2003
Chita and Antonio Banderas played their last performance in Nine on October 5, 2003.

Chita played Liliane La Fleur, the role created by Liliane Montevecchi. This was the first-ever Broadway revival of Nine, since the original 1982 production.

Chita was replaced by Eartha Kitt, Banaderas by John Stamos. The replacement cast continued until December 14, 2003. All told, this Tony Award winning revival played 23 previews and 285 regular performances.

The musical is an adaptation of Fellini's 1963 film, 8 ½, and revolves around one central character Guido Contini, played by Antonio Banderas, who made his Broadway debut in this role. Guido is a film director in the Fellini mold. He is contracted to write and direct a film, but is unable to come up with a suitable plot. After recent box office failures, he finds himself drifting towards a nervous breakdown. Guido finds himself examining his past flawed relationships with the many women who have come through his life and the struggle to act his mature age of 40 as opposed to nine. He goes to a spa to sort out his life and specifically his relationships with various women, including his wife, his current mistress, his first love, his colleague and his mother.

Chita played Guido's producer, a determined French woman with a past career as a star with the Follies Bergere. As she hunts Guido down, exerting pressure and threats for him to come up with a script, he becomes increasingly desperate. Chita received a Tony Award nomination for her performance. The production was named Best Revival.
